Digital and sustainability leader, Schneider Electric has scaled up its drive for sustainable energy future with a move to train one million youths on energy management and industrial automation by 2025. 

The organisation explained that the step is aimed at the realisation of United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on quality education, as well as decent work and economic growth. 

Briefing the press on this step, Access to Education Coordinator, Schneider Electric, Nigeria, Funmilayo Olakitan explained that the organisation’s overall goals aligned with SDGs, thus reinforces its dedication to fostering long-lasting impact through education and meaningful employment opportunities.

She identified other initiatives of the organisation aimed at driving SDGs realisation as a partnership with Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) and Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) to train 5000 and 8000 youths in five years respectively. 

Speaking further, Marketing Communications Manager of Schneider Electric West Africa, Omobolanle Omotayo said, “We created the electricians training programme and equipped 300 unemployed youths in partnership with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), and the French Development Agency (AFD) to improve the quality of domestic and commercial electrical installations. 

She assured of the organisation’s continuous partnership with key Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to expedite SDGs realisation.
