How one Recording Studio in Phoenix Arizona is doing things Differently

Phoenix, Arizona – September 28, 2021 – The Saltmine Studio Oasis in Phoenix Arizona is the largest recording studio in Phoenix Metropolitan area with 5 studios all within one gated compound. The Saltmine is home to countless high profile artists from across the globe, as well as many Arizona locals as well. Behind the militant metal gates and security cameras, the walls in this studio are star studded. Platinum and gold plaques cover the walls. Endless photographs and autographs line the long hallways with beads and the sweet smell of incense burning. Entering any of the 5 unique recording studios you’ll experience dimly lit, led accented mood lighting accompanied with an endless array of digital and analog gear.

The Saltmine is a sacred musical paradise for Musicians to leave their mark on history. Names like Lil Wayne, DMX, Kodak Black, Jeezy, Lil Yachty, Gunna, Wakaflocka, Swae Lee, Lil Baby, ICE T, Yo Gotti, Summer Walker, Lil Peep, Riff Raff, 21 Savage, Smokepurpp, Boosie Badazz, JuicyJ, NE-YO, Fabulous, Mario Winans, Timbaland, Bone, Thugs N Harmony, Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Khalid, Joyner Lucas, Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, G Unit, MGK, J Cole, Charlie Puth, Asking Alexandria, The Jonas Brothers, Alice Cooper, and many more than I cannot name here have called The Saltmine Studios home.

For the last 36 years, The Saltmine has dominated the Phoenix music industry boasting some of the finest of atmosphere, equipment, and experience. One of the greatest benefits of working in a commercial recording studio is the collaborative energy it brings. Being around other talented creatives helps bring out the best in everyone.

“We aim to increase connectivity within our clientele, it generally creates a win win scenario for everyone involved. Networking is something that is increasingly more difficult for Artists to do these days, at The Saltmine, it is more than just a recording studio, it’s a social club for artists.” – Zach Salter, of the Saltmine Studios.

With the rise of the independent artist in recent years, The Saltmine has seen significant increase in interest in using Analog equipment. Analog is back! Says Don Salter, Owner of the Saltmine Studio Oasis. There will always be trends and phases in any industry, but some things are just really hard to beat. We’ve seen a great shift in DIY artist’s becoming more enabled and more empowered than they’ve ever been in recent years, and now that competition is at an all time high, artists have to do more than ever to get an edge on the competition. There are over 60,000 songs released per day online today. Large in part to the fact that artists can truly do it all themselves with a touch of a button, make something, by themselves on their laptop and distribute that all across the globe in a matter of seconds.

The real question is should they? Is that always in their best interest? Maybe, Maybe not. Quality is not something that should be compromised if you’re an artist trying to make a name for themselves. It is a reflection of your brand as an artist. Your brand value determines your place in this industry. Success leaves clues, it is no secret. All of the most successful artists that I have seen did it with the support of a team. Being an independent musician is like being an entrepreneur, you’re creating a product that you then have to market and distribute after you produce. I don’t personally know of any successful start up businesses that have no mentors, no partners, no employees, no teammates at all. It really is a team sport and networking can really make the difference. Staying close to the epicenter of the industry is important if you want to reap the benefits that come along with the collective knowledge and experience.

One major benefit of being involved in a social circuit like the Saltmine is that you can learn things from other Artists that may take you a lifetime to learn on your own. “Watching the workflow of an artist you admire speaks volumes, and that’s the type of thing you learn from someone without even speaking a word to them. Watching and learning artist’s creative process is incredibly valuable,” says Zach Salter.
