Regional Medical Group Paves The Way By Donating Turkeys For The Families Of Urban League Of Greater Atlanta

Regional Medical Group announces its partnership with the Atlanta-based nonprofit, nonpartisan, and national community-based movement Urban League of Greater Atlanta to give back to kids and families in need this Thanksgiving season.

This holiday season, Regional Medical Group has taken the pledge to support Georgia’s charities with the launch of its new program called RMG Cares. RMG Cares’ mission is to help in a time of much need in the Atlanta community through nonprofit partnerships. The RMG Cares program is proud to announce its pledge to donate over 245 frozen turkeys and about $500 worth of canned goods the week of Thanksgiving. Also, a new learning management system set up by January 2021 for the Urban League of Greater Atlanta.

The Urban League of Greater Atlanta focuses on preparing African Americans to enter the workforce for careers in the 21st century and the new economy; raising the graduation rate among metro Atlanta students and preparing youth for college and careers; homeownership and wealth creation; entrepreneurship and small business growth; sustainable communities; and serving as an advocate for education, civic engagement and economic development and a voice for the underserved in their community. They are a dedicated person-to-person organization invested in the economic success of African-Americans; coaching them to a better life.

“In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Regional Medical Group is proud to partner with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta to assist Atlanta’s communities in need. Thanksgiving is a time to gather with friends and family and reflect on what matters most. It’s up to all of us to guarantee that no one in our community goes hungry this holiday season. Together we can help in the mission that every single family has a turkey on their table throughout the great city of Atlanta. When we all come together, we can bring about real change and restoration in our homes and hearts. And with Covid-19, these programs and services have become even more essential than ever before.” – Dr. Mark Schwaiger, Founder & Chairman of Regional Medical Group.

In a recent study, Atlanta in the 1920s was the second most segregated city in the U.S. and the most segregated in the south. Over the decades, African American families in Atlanta sought opportunities, and the Atlanta Urban League provided the much-needed support to connect with employment, job training, housing, health care, and education for their children. One hundred years later, in the midst of the worst economic downturn, many believe the Atlanta Urban League is just as relevant today, as it was in 1920. As a result, RMG Cares has made it their mission to support the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and provide families with a Thanksgiving to remember.

In November 2021, Regional Medical Group plans to continue their giving by awarding The Schwaiger Scholarship to individuals of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta at their annual Centennial Event.
